My makeup essential

We all have those big headache just thinking about choosing between makeup products. What will I take if I could not take my whole makeup bag ? Some choices were easier than others. After all, we all have our favourite. In the end, if I had to narrow it down to just a few items, this is what it will be :

1. My Real Technique brushes which I bought on my summer trip.
2. Nars, Radiant Concealer.
3. CC cream (the one from Bourjois is quite ok, not the best that being said.)
4. Mascara, this one is from MUA.
5. Brown eyeliner. (I recently bought this one from Rimmel London)
6. Brow-volumizing fiber gel from Benefit, Gimme Brow in medium/light.
7. My new blush (also bought during my holiday... me, weak? huh.) which is from B.Cheeky. It's the 078 named SHERBET.

And you, what would you keep ?

Did you say ' trendy sweden haircare ' ?

I had received Hair repair as a sample in my monthly box a while back. I have used it a few times since.

The brand's words about Hair Repair : " This innovative product uses Sachajuan’s Ocean Silk Technology—sourced from nutrient-rich algae—to stimulate hair cells and strengthen each strand for healthy, continued growth. It forms a non-oily film around hair fibers, much like a bandage, that reduces frizz and enhances shine for a picture-perfect coif ".

The directions are : "Massage a small amount into washed hair—a little goes a long way—and let it sit for 5-10 minutes. If you’d like, you can do this in the shower. When finished, rinse the product thoroughly, dry your mane, and admire the results. "

After showering, my hair was extremely soft and hydrated. It wasn't greasy but very soft and clean. The conditioner works well, and has a nice, clean scent. I only used a nickel sized portion of the product.

I don't mind the thought of using a hair treatment but I could not tell a major difference using this one. However, I do like this product but I don't think I could afford to pay full price for the result I get on my hair.

Call it magic ... Call it Egyptian Magic !

« Egyptian Magic is an all-natural skin cream made from six of nature's most powerful moisturizing and healing ingredients. For more than 20 years we have been blending these ingredients using our unique, proprietary process based on a formula that was created thousands of years ago in the land of the Pharaohs. The result is a luxurious cream with moisturizing and nourishing properties that are legendary among celebrities, the fashion industry, even doctors and hospitals. With that support, Egyptian Magic has grown exclusively through word-of-mouth to be one of the most popular and widely endorsed skin creams in the world. »

I was lucky enough to get a sample of the most-talked about cream by celebrities and reality stars on my first ever birchbox.

First let me say Egyptian magic lives up to these reviews. It softens your skin anywhere you apply it. There are only six ingredients and I could easily pronounce every one! So refreshing!

I have been using it for about a month now and can already notice a difference in the texture and softness in my skin. I also like that you can use it on any area from face to feet. They are many uses for it. I have heard that it is good for dry skin, stretch marks, eczema, steam treatment, facial and mani/pedi. Yet, it leaves me a super greasy feeling. I think you can get better results in a nighttime use. Once you get past the initial greasy feeling, this is magic!

how to highlight your features

I have bought several highlighter over the past few (years) months ~ two to be exact. The first one is a proper highlighter that I reviewed a while ago. I love it but I find it more of 'a cold weather kind of product'. I find my blush from Benefit to do the trick as well. It is defined as " a brightening face powder that finely spurns with delicate mauves and pinks " and after all. I don't know about you but I have been a deep fan of highlighter. Highlighting is often skipped.
This is why I have decided to write about highlighting. I think that in order to understand its effect, you have to be able to know how to apply highlighter. I find highlighting to be a very important in any makeup. Especially if like me, you have a very fair skin complexion and dark brown hair. I find it to generally define and brighten my face.

To apply highlighter, I will advise you to use a fan brush. However, I don’t own a fan brush at the moment. So, I use my fingertips for the liquid one and my real technique brush for the brightening powder.

I brighten the area around my eyes (above the cheek-bone). It's like I got like three extra hours of sleep in just a minute. It makes your cheeks pop. Some highlighters add just a hint of brightness while other bring shimmer to your face. You can apply highlighter also just above your eyebrows and around your upper-lip - not on your forehead, nobody wants a shiny forehead, right?

a little update

Hello everyone! ♡
I hope you are still here. First, I'd like to apologize for my little break. I hope you've not lost hope about Serenbird. I really enjoy blogging and speaking my mind. I have been thinking a lot while I was gone. I'm not very sure I'll have time to blog a lot this year. I have a lot of things planned. Even if it's not very wise, I think I'm going to keep blogging - except it won't be as regular as it was this summer. I will try posting one or two blogs a week. I can't promise you anything but I'll do my best. I hope there are still people out there that will want to read and join me.

I'm going to change my blog, it is going to evolve slowly and be more diversify. I don't know if that is something you will be looking for. I'm really glad to be back in here. The design of my blog might change quite a lot too. I might rebrand it - but just a bit, don't worry.

What are your take on the matter ? Let me know if you have any ideas for me or anything.

To be inspired is great, but to inspire is an honor.

Hello, lovebirds.
I'm about to do something drastic. Serenbird is going to know a short break. I need to take time to see if this is really working for me. I have a lot of things to do and think about. I'm not sure Serenbird is still one of them. I really love my blog and I enjoyed spending time building it and making it what it is today. I think that I just need to take a minute - a couple of days or weeks - and try to figure things out. I think I just need time. I hope you'll understand and accept my sincere appologies.

Serenbird means a lot to me and so does your support. I love reading every comment I get, finding out that there are new people following me every week. It has been great knowing that someone wanted to know and cared about what I thought for once. Thanks to Serenbird I was able to express myself and share with others. I'll always be thankful for that.

So no, this is not a goodbye. Just a ' SEE YOU SOON '. I'll be back.

My new mascara from Kiko

My Pixi Mascara was running out and I needed new mascara so I went to Kiko Cosmetics. I am a beginner at mascara matter. I find it hard to do it, maybe because it is such a new thing to me. And yet, my mom kept telling me to put mascara on my - already - quite long and thin lashes. I've tried about 3 mascaras so far. I have had mascara from Sephora's brand, bareMinerals, the one from Pixi and now this one. I have to say I'm really enjoying myself with this one. I do it so easily now. I don't do a mess anymore. It's quick. I was quite amazed the first time I tried it about how it lays my lashes. I love big mascara brush. Well, I won't lie. I also bought it for its price tag... But I do think it was worth it.
